Zoo

We finally renewed our zoo membership and had a fun time on Tuesday walking around.  We almost had to have a health lesson because of a very energetic little chimpanzee.  It was overcast most of the time, so the heat wasn't as bad as it's been.

New splash pad at the zoo...all the parents got a chuckle out of the wording on this sign.

Articles and Food

A great article on sibling friendships:

How to Cultivate Proverbs 13 Friendships

How to Practice Hospitality and welcoming friends into your home:  Some great tips on hospitality.

My mom gave Tera a new cookbook and she's been trying it out...blueberry muffins, peanut butter oatmeal muffins, fruit salsa and cinnamon sugar tortilla chips.  The peach blueberry cobbler, well, that was me.  It's nice to have a child old enough and interested in baking.  Her brothers aren't complaining at all.

We went to the library sale today and I got a box of things for under $10.  I met a friend there who had never been to one of the sales before.  It was hard for us to get out of there.  Usually, I find random things but today I actually found things we will be studying...2 Latin dictionaries, Why Things Work Machine videos, an old version of Latina Christiana (for $2), and a couple of readers I will use as soon as school starts.  It was fun but now I have to find a place to put all my new books.

What I was hoping was allergies from all my maniac cleaning is a summer cold, I think...a functioning cold, but it's still kinda stinky.  That's all I can think of for this random post.  :)

Office or Junk Room...

Today was the day I tackled the bane of my house...our office/junk room.  This is the room no one goes into, because frankly it's kinda hard to walk in.  It houses our closet (our upstairs bedroom doesn't really have one), office type things, instruments,  and anything else that doesn't have a place.  Our ideal is to put shelves in for organization, but that costs $$, so for now I clean and organize the best I can.  Again, I'm baring the dark corners.

It's not perfect but at least I can walk in there without feeling so discouraged about the piles everywhere.  I think I'm cleaning like a maniac because school starts next week and I function so much better when I have neat, tidy, clean surroundings.

Metric Olympics

We got together with friends for a Metric Olympics.

We had six events...paper plate discus throw, straw javelin, giant step, side step, marble handfuls and cotton ball shot put.

We paired the girls together and brothers together so that the older ones could help the younger ones measure.

Wedding Trip

4.5 hours doesn't sound long for a trip...but it feels like a long trip at the end of the day.

When we lived in Nashville, we used to frequent this restaurant.  I cannot tell you how many times...let's just say, we knew our favorite waitress by name.  So when we go home, we always pass it, but never at a meal time.  This time we just happened to be looking for somewhere to eat supper and stopped.   Daniel thought the people before us were just messy with the peanuts...

The wedding cake and a beautiful fruit display...

My brother and sister in law went all out for the food...but I failed to get a picture of everything.  There was also a caramel groom's cake (made by her grandmother) that was to die for!

I had hoped to get a ton of family pictures on my camera before the wedding but it was just too hectic.  I'll just have to wait for the photographers pictures to come back.

We left early Sunday morning and came on home...it was a great weekend and I'm so thankful that now I have an official step-dad!  I couldn't ask for a better one!
