Weekly Wrap-up: Gettin' Back to Normal

Weekly Wrap-Up

I am so blessed! Not only am I feeling so much better, but my tests came back normal. I bored my loving friends with the details, but I'm glad (and I bet they are, too) that I've resolved to quit making it the subject of conversation.

While I've been preoccupied with health stuff, my kids have been plugging away at school and other learning endeavors.  I'm overwhelmed at their ability to keep up with their work and stay focused while I was recovering.

Michael builds or makes things everyday!   Today, he's watching an origami video we checked out from the library.  The instructor's name is Michael.  I told my Michael, "He's name is the same as yours, that's cool!"  He replies, "Yeah, but his last name is different."

We started having Michael do his "book work" first thing in the morning.  If play comes first, then complaining comes next.  Doing handwriting, reading, and a few math sheets before anything else has cut the complaining down considerably.

Chess is life...life is chess!  I have a feeling, chess is a part of our lives that will never go away.  I'm really good with that! In the recent tournament, Daniel won his first trophy coming in 9th place.  We are always so proud of Tera and Daniel.  Whether they win or lose, they always show such grace and good sportsmanship, which is more important!

Before Christmas, we purchased a used laptop.  Tera and Daniel are both enjoying using it in their school work and to play chess against the computer.

Daniel learned how to solder this past weekend.  Since my husband's job is working on a manufacturing line that solders, he is a pro.  He guided Daniel and was so proud to see Daniel get the hang of the process.   He completed his own FM radio that REALLY works!  JP came home from work to a completed project and inspected Daniel's soldering just like he does at work.

In the middle of it all, the love of my life celebrated his birthday!  We are so thankful for JP and love him immensely!  We are also proud of him and how hard he works for our family.  In the next few months, JP will transition to a new position.  He was promoted right around the first of the year.  We are so excited for this opportunity for him...mainly because we'll get to spend more time with him!  Yay!

Tera has been working hard learning how to use the Powerpoint program.  She is trying to design a slideshow about the birth of the American Navy. This girl amazes me!

We are deep into Algebra 1 this year.  We are coming to the last parts of the book and we're slowing down just a bit.  We've learned from experience that if you aren't getting something...STOP and master it before going on.  That's what we're doing.  Those d=rt problems are killers!

I'm so thankful to be getting back to normal.  I'm so thankful that God gave us the strength to keep going in school and other aspects of life in the middle of doctor's appointments.
