Glimpses of Christmas 2018--Sibling presents

Every year, the kids spend quite a bit of time planning, picking, making or buying gifts for each other and their parents.  The gifts are always thoughtful and this year was no exception!

This was the first year Tera was able to purchase and order all her presents on her own.  For someone with such a giving heart, she  exemplified the saying..."it is more blessed to give than to receive!"

Michael and I made quite a few trips around karate lessons to find gifts for everyone.  He did a great job picking out what everyone would like.

Daniel surprised us by making most of his gifts this year.  Michael has worn this dragon scarf almost constantly since opening it!

JP and I weren't quite sure what we were opening with Daniel's comic warnings of explosions and poisonous animals.

Glimpses of Christmas--The most important things first

The Christ candle is lit and Baby Jesus is in the manger bed.

We read the Christmas story and hung our Christ ornament on the Jesse Tree.  Michael recited a portion of the Christmas story for us before we had breakfast.

I love our tradition to give the most important things priority in our Christmas morning celebration.  Maybe because we ALWAYS done it this way, our kids have never complained about that waiting time.  It only seems to make the morning more special to us all!

Glimpses of Christmas--Christmas Eve 2018

We had a relaxing day at home on Christmas Eve.  I slipped down the last few steps on the back porch and bruised myself up pretty nicely.  No ER visits, but I'm definitely still working out the soreness.

Tera took over putting out reindeer food...

The manger is all set ready for Christmas morning...

Santa came very early on Christmas Eve because Mrs. Claus wasn't going to be a big help due to the injuries she incurred.   But Santa worked diligently and was on his way in no time!

Slow Days

The slower days finally arrived...the at-home days, the nothing-on-our-schedule days.

Last weekend's Advent lighting--the Third Sunday in Advent

Dessert hummus taste test while watching a "The Great Christmas Light Fight" episode.

All four of us agree--best to worst:  1.  Brownie Batter--did not taste like hummus at all 2. Pumpkin Pie--very pumpkin pie-y  3. Snickerdoodle--hummus with sugar and cinnamon; not so great

A few "snow" minute-to-win-it games

One of our very artistic friends is a talented woodcarver.  He has been giving Michael drawing tips for a while now and made this gift especially for his "good friend Michael"!

Our completed puzzle!  We were home long enough to complete this 1000 piece puzzle this week...a feat indeed!

Slow days...
