Back to it!

It feels like Monday, even though I know it's Tuesday.

Today was our first day back in the routine.  After taking off a month for the holidays, we are slowly getting back into the groove.  The older kids had some literature, biology and computer projects to work on.  Our Rosetta Stone program stopped working, so I need to call tech support tomorrow.  Ugh!  I'm trying to get the next month or so planned and my grades reported.  There are disadvantages to taking a lot of time off.

Tuesday is one of our gym days and it was a wonderful way to get the day started.  My ankle was bothering me for the first time in a long time.  I blame it on the weather change that's coming.  I spent the time at the gym in the pool.  My happy relaxed place!

I've been cooking like crazy the last couple of days.

Some oldies but goody recipes:

My family LOVES all these recipes!  I need some dump-it-in-the-crockpot recipes for the next couple of days.  I need to go grocery shopping tomorrow and will probably have to fight the crowds of people getting their milk and bread at the hint of snow in the forecast.

I'm trying to keep up on cleaning by doing a little list everyday and one de-clutter/deep clean project.  We will see how long I can keep the momentum going on that one.

Karate started back tonight and Michael is working on a Star Wars paper airplane as we speak.

It's been a good day!

New Year's Eve 2016

A "new" New Year's Eve tradition!  Pulling out the punch bowl and the crystal.

Fun and games...

Me and my baby!

We watched the BFG, which is a great movie, by the way.  JP and the older kids brought in the New Year watching The Peanuts Movie.  Michael was in bed at 10 PM against his choice and I was in bed by 11:30 because my body gave me no other choice.

Ready to see all that 2017 has in store for us!

2016...A look back

The thing I love most about blogging is the looking back. It reminds me of all the special memories we have had throughout the year.

2016...a look back:

January:

I started the year in an ankle boot, Here I Sit.  I swam in the deep end of the pool for the first time.  Michael made dinner for the first time for the family and we had snow.

February:

February was a crazy month.  JP and Michael had birthdays. Tera and Daniel qualified for state as individuals in chess.  After the state competition, we ended the month with a weekend long tournament at the new Dollywood Dreammore Resort.

March:

Regional chess team qualifier--2nd place. Headed to state, where the team placed 5th in the state.  Green belt for Michael. 22 years for JP and IHistory Share, music rehearsals, school and lots of chess with a short spring break stirred in.

April:

Getting to know new friends.  Fun date nights.  Performances.  PromPoetry.

May:

Mother's Day with crepes and a visit to my happy place.  Titanic fieldtrip with friends.  Daniel performed at graduation and at a festival with his flute ensemble.  School ended.  VBS.

June:

Blue belt and Bible studies. New blue kayaks and summer reading.

July:

I turned 42! We picked blueberries and started another session of Bible studies.  First day of school.

August:

Lots of school days with tons of fun hands-on biology and literature assignments.  Daniel's birthday-14.

September:

STAYCATION!!!!    Michael and I found our groove and read lots of books together.  Joined the gym.

October:

Tera's birthday--16!   Edible DNA, ACT and mitosis.  Finding my way back.  Michael got his purple belt.  Halloween fun.

November:

30 Days of Thanks Challenge.  Visit home to Alabama.  Bought a fire pit.  Friendsgiving 2016.

December:

Christmas Party.  Daniel's flute concert. Sickness!  Christmas 2016.  Michael got his brown belt and is transitioning to the beginner class.  Christmas Bible study for Michael and his friend, Sam.
