Electricity....electricity

Our failed electroscope experiment. It's been so hot and humid that we were not able to get any of our static electricity experiments to work last week. We are definitely revisiting this in the winter.

This week we are studying conductors and insulators. So we did experiments with various common household objects to compare which ones conducted heat and cold better. Then I let the kids see who could melt ice cubes the fastest by rubbing on their hands and legs. Tera decided to find out which part of her body was warmer so she held one on the back of her neck vs. one in the bend of her leg. She reported that the bend of her leg was warmer. Now she's really cool!

We have a few more projects this week before we take a break next week for a unit on Ancient Egypt.
