Art

Close-up Flowers

We did a mini-lesson on Georgia O'Keeffe. A short biography found here. Then, we looked up Georgia O'Keeffe on pinterest to see a diverse range of her art. I found this project that we used as a guide for our close up flower projects.

Michael's first self-portrait

In order from the top--Daniel, Tera and Michael.  Great project, but we needed to be a whole lot heavier with the pastels to create a better resist.  JP did the drawing tutorial.

Basically, draw a sea turtle in very light pencil.  Fill in flippers, head and shell with geometric shapes.

Trace darkly with oil pastels.

Paint over with watercolors.

Sprinkle salt on wet parts.

  1. Wow! Beautiful! I'm always stealing your art "pins". I would never be brave enough to do this stuff with my kids without a little inspiration and seeing real families doing it.

  2. I'm not too brave...without tutorials and directions, I'm usually lost! :)
