Ordinary days

Sometimes my blog posts are kinda like my journals...they have writings from the really good times and the really bad times.  Just not much else in between.  Certainly not all the funny/annoying things that happen on a daily basis around here.  When you don't write about all those things in between, it makes your life seem either really exciting or really depressing.  I'm going to try to start writing more about the ordinary stuff, so that I don't forget that in between the highs and lows, there is a lot of just ordinary life going on.  That's a good thing.

Last night, Michael was pretending he had a key (a little cross charm for a bracelet) to lock the kitchen door.  He was closing the door on himself, while I sat at the computer.  He comes out saying, "there's a monster in there, I'm scared".  I told him, "You don't have to be scared, because Jesus is with you...just pray to Jesus and ask Him to be with you."  So, he goes back in the kitchen and I hear this faint whisper say:  "Dear Jesus, please be with me."  Then he goes about his playing.  Later, he starts telling Tera and Daniel that Jesus was in the kitchen.  And you know, Michael's right!  Jesus is with us wherever we are.

Sometimes I'll listen to radio and hear nothing that speaks to me or that I like, but this morning there were two songs played that I haven't heard in a while that really spoke to my heart.

Because He Lives
And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone!
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives!

Amazing Grace (Chris Tomlin version)
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace!

Just what I needed this morning!  I'm not feeling the greatest -physically today.  Some hormonal issues have caused my condition to flare up a bit.  Not what you want to deal with especially when you've been eating right and missing out on the good food you want.  Basically, I'm eating separate most days from my family, but if that's what it takes- I'm game!

We had the Science Fair last Saturday, a field trip on Tuesday, Tera's writing assessment on Wednesday (which went really well for her), and then piano today.  I can tell the kids are basically zoning out.  Tomorrow is usually a lighter day academically for us and maybe even more so this week.  It's also my husband's birthday.  The kids are trying to convince me to let them have HIS birthday off.  Since he's spending the day out by himself, they need some structure.  We'll have a party later in the day, but he never gets to just run around by himself. I think he's really excited and looking forward to it.

We've got Valentine's in less than 2 weeks, and God's arrows have hit me.  We've been doing Valentine's crafts almost every afternoon.  I have just been thinking so much about how much God loves me and all of us that I just want to decorate and celebrate that!

Anyway, I'm sure my ordinary day posts won't always be this long...hopefully!
